Question 7

7 – Looking back on your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the final product

The brief for our preliminary exercise was to film and edit a short film that included a character opening and closing a door, crossing a room and sitting down in a chair across from another character. The clip had to include match on action, shot reverse shot and the 180 degree rule.
The brief for our main film was to film and edit a 2 minute opening of a film that we have come up with that included a title sequence.
Looking back at my preliminary task i feel like i have made great progress with my media skills. The quality of my work has vastly improved since we made the preliminary task. I have managed to incorporate the skills i learned whilst doing the preliminary task into the two minutes opening of my film.

Shot reverse shot:
When creating are preliminary exercise clip we learn how to successively film and edit a shot reverse shot sequence. When it came to making our 2 minute opening sequence we thought it would be a good idea to film a shot reverse shot but when it came to filming our film we ran out of time to film. We do have a phone call in our film though which we filmed on 2 different camera in two different areas and edited them together so that they are consecutive.

Match on action:
Before our preliminary exercise none of my group and i had no idea what it was and how it is used. After the preliminary exercise i knew a lot more about it and how to use it we used it quite abit in our 2 minute opening sequence.

180-degree rule:
We tried to obey be the 18o-degree rule though i do not think that we always followed it. If i was to do this project again i woul make sure that i always obeyed by it.
